This code system consists of the following: * FL 67 - Present On Admission Indicator These codes are used to report the principal diagnosis code (ICD-9 or ICD-10 code) and each of the secondary diagnoses. The 8th character in that set (first 7 are ICD) is the location used to report whether or not a condition was present on admission. The present on admission code acts as a modifier and is used to further define another code, so as to say this ICD-10 code is for a condition that was/was not present on admission.
